Art in the Park 2022
Posted September 2022
Art in the Park was such an exciting milestone for me—my first time exhibiting in Auckland, and in the iconic Eden Park of all places! The show ran from 8–11 September 2022 and brought together over 100 artists from across Aotearoa. I was thrilled to be one of them.
Over the weekend, thousands of people came through the space. It was a full-on few days, but so rewarding to be able to talk to people face-to-face about my work. I loved hearing how others connected with the pieces—whether through colour, material, or the way light moved through them. Being able to have those real conversations was one of the biggest highlights for me.
What stood out most was the range of people I got to meet. From collectors with established art walls to a young couple buying their very first piece for their new home—it was such a joy to hear where my work was going and what it meant to them. Those stories stayed with me. It reminded me how personal art really is, and how special it is to be part of someone’s everyday space.
It was also a chance to meet so many other artists from around the country. Everyone was generous, open, and willing to share their experiences. As a young, emerging artist, that sense of support and community was incredibly encouraging.
I’m so grateful to Sofija and Cary for backing me and making it all happen. And to my mum, Nicola, who came up with me and helped man the stand all weekend—I honestly couldn’t have done it without her.
Art in the Park was inspiring, energising, and just a bit surreal in the best way. I left feeling proud, a little exhausted, and very excited for what’s next.
